you should really only talk salary with HR
I don’t think you’re in trouble as long as your expectations are not out of line with industry norms for your position. A lot of companies don’t really talk salary until team confirms they like a candidate. I’m sure some people on here will fiercely disagree, but things have always worked out for me even when salary was one of the last things we discussed.
Honestly, faux paus on my end, but I’m thinking there will be a third, final interview if the team likes me where salary will be discussed. But at this point in my career, I am not just looking for a paycheck (although the number matters), I’m looking for a supportive team and long term career growth. So the group interview to me is more an interview for the TEAM to see if I’m interested. But just wondering if I’m in trouble if I love them and they come back too low??
If they come back low, tell them how much you’re worth. Be firm and honest. Chances are asking for more won’t be a deal breaker, and if it is they’ll let you know. Whenever I’ve been asked how much I’m looking for, I’ve always said more than I expected and it’s always worked out.
