Tactically:
1. Write short email and send it ASAP ... feeling ill, struggling with work/life balance and mental health ... that's enough key words ... mention you want to try and talk about logistics for next week
2. Call 20-30 min later ... s/he won't pick up, leave short voicemail ... it's me, call me back when you have a minute.
3. Stand by
Think about what you need ... no travel, 1 more day off, etc...if it goes from bad to worse you can start thinking about asking to be swapped and/or taking leave.
You can't let the firm run you into the ground. You are a human being, clearly a smart and successful one given where you have gotten in life so don't succumb to the firm and risk your health or well being.
I’ve been there. It’s not fun, especially if you feel like you wasted vacation only to feel worse. Talk to your manager. See if there is a way you can ease back into the travel to make the readjustment easier.
Talk to your manager about it. I've been able to do this in the past, and they have been pretty understanding and do what they can to help. Hope everything is ok
I’d suggest finding a new job without travel if that is how you feel each weekend :(
Thanks all. I'm not sure what I need. I actually don't mind the travel. Just lately work or having to do anything in general is really getting me down. I'll figure out a plan forward, always do
