Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

No.
Yes. (I have a PMP). All consulting is project work, therefore all consulting can benefit.
PMP gives structure and defines the language. It is not a single method, but a comprehensive knowledge base to draw from.
It will not give you a huge raise or a trophy, but KPMG did let me expense everything from training to books to the test, and gave me a $1000 bonus for completing it.
I have a PMP. No MBA. I work on tech implementations. Is it useful? Yes. Establishes credentials before I am staffed. Somewhat useful for actual daily work. Is it necessary? No. Is it boring? Hell, Yes!!
Only as a LinkedIn header filler
I wonder if any of the commenters that say “no” actually have a PMP? 🤔
No
Depends on your work. If you do PMO and that is your passion, then yes. It’s the gold standard. But if you’re looking to get it just to add as another credential then probably not. Just my two cents
Yes - it’s becoming an expectation in my sector
PwC3: Federal?
Yes. I learned a lot studying for it that has been useful in my job
KPMG2 said it well
No - I have it, never used it or was asked for/about it. Our project mgt methodology is different to PMP so for the exam you need to “re program” your brain/vocab. Studying for PMP was v boring.
Also - keep in mind you need to keep up with it. It expires and you need to provide evidence of training etc if you want to continue to use it. These additional trainings etc arent company sponsored (at least not at D)
PMP is only necessary for fed consulting
I do PMO work all the time. PMP Necessary? No but I had to piecemeal PM knowledge through experience. Probably would have beat the learning curve faster had I gotten my PMP. Would I have gotten it in retrospect? Yes If was in my mid 20s.
Yes. Specially if you are at the beginning of your career. I have it for 10 years now.
I got mine last month while I was on the bench. It’s far from the most exciting thing to study for, but I figured I could expense it and might as well use the bench time to accomplish something.
Not for Agile environments
