Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

It is extremely hard to coach and teach teams or build real connections with clients. WFH allows us to deliver and survive but it slows down growth
How is that a strawman? It's a very real scenario that I'm facing right now.
Leadership who was too lazy, or incompetent, to plan for who actually needed to be at client site. Also a lot of “this is how it’s done” mentality.
That’s what companies are going to think now. This virus is going to transform business.
No need for fat phobia but I hear you
Honestly people often completely underestimate the power of contextual learning. Being in an office you learn more about something just by being around it, hearing conversations and bumping into people. Technology has solved some problems but not all. I think we are not there yet
The person who catches the client in the hall to small talk is the one who gets the deal. Presence is relevance.
Fuzzy feelings and human connection.
Kicking things off will need to be in person. I work in manufacturing and supply chain so my clients have to physically be on the production line. This introduces a culture of being places in person. However I reckon, in the future, it will become more ok to just go up for 1 or 2 days a week or for specific events, and that people will be comfortable with more work being done remotely.
I’m honestly surprised that so many intelligent people fall in an argument of false dichotomy. The question isn’t 100% remote or 100% travel, it is what balance therein is most efficient along multiple dimensions. The weighting of each dimension is driven by the project. I personally hope that more leadership considers this more thoroughly moving forward for staff WLB and value for clients. If done correctly it can be a win-win.
This is a good time for specially Consulting companies to re-model and restructure the whole 'Consultant Life = Travel life'. Everyone is still able to work virtually, nothing stopping. Deliverables are also delivered.
I think it’s an especially relevant question for BST support staff with no client facing interactions
For those of you saying everyone is doing just as much work from home, I call shenanigans.
As a person focused more on BD than delivery, BD and driving a pipeline remotely is always more difficult than building relationships in person
