Poll: do you expense dinner in your home city on Thursday nights after traveling? I land at JFK at 8pm each week - think I deserve to expense my seamless but some say otherwise (and there's no policy)

I'd be careful about this. In my old job in banking, we thought nobody really looked at our expense reports. Then one of our analysts got fired for expensing dinner too early. I would ask someone to clarify the rules, otherwise I don't think it's worth the risk.

D15, enjoy that 4 day old chicken and wilted vegetables. Don't worry, that rancid taste is completely harmless as long as it was cooked to 165 deg.

Yes. Expense. everything.

like

This frustrates me more than Uncle Ernie's no lunch rule. If I'm getting home at 9:30pm on a Thursday, I have no groceries at my apartment and no will to cook... my take out is an extension of my traveling.

like

Every single week

like

If I get something at the airport, yes.

like

I expense food after traveling home, yes. I have GrubHub waiting for me at the door

like

If you are super worried about getting caught... Just remember that if you spend less than $25 you don't have to use Corp Amex and reimbursement without receipts.

like

Yes, expense. The concept is that you aren't home to prepare a "normal" dinner for yourself.

like

Used to do it at Deloitte. At EY it's against policy so I just blow my dinner allowance on good drinks at an airport bar and eat at the lounge before my flight

like

If I'm traveling on any day I'm expensing it. I have no shame considering what we're billed out at.

like

Grey area. I personally follow the from the moment I leave my home to the moment I get back theory. If I get dinner on my way home: expense, if I am ordering delivery: no.

like

I expense everything at all times

like

Further proof that Deloitte consultants are soft...

like

Ask yourself: would I be hungry at the airport at 8 pm after a long flight if it weren't for work? If the answer is "yes", then don't expense it. If the answer is "no" then expense it.

like

I sometimes do. Can also use uber eats as the charge comes up as uber.

like

EY's expense policy makes me never want to work there as a consultant TBH

like

Lol i expense every day. They never check... mon thru sun hahah

If I land after 7, yes. If earlier, then no

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

I have a deadline to respond to a Motion for SMJ in 1 1/2 weeks. I just found out that my grandparents who I haven’t seen since the start of the pandemic will visit this week. I want to spend as much time as possible with them but it will be hard with my response due. I really don’t want to tell the Court that I am seeking an extension for personal reason, what would be a good reason to provide? I clearly don’t want to misstate anything but is there some general, vague language that can be used?
