Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Your premise is largely inaccurate. I’m an MBB alum. Yes, the brand opened doors. None of those doors was totally off limits to alums of other firms. It might be harder to get some exits out of D or PwC than from MBB, but none are completely exclusive. I’ve seen Big 4 folks go into PE, into PM roles in tech, biz ops, etc. When I interviewed at Google for a Biz Ops job my interviewer was former PwC.
The brand is strong, and it is candidly stronger than other consulting brands, but it’s not magic fairy dust.
It’s like having an Ivy League or similar prestigious school. Of course it’s always with you but with diminishing returns over time.
Rising Star
In some companies and industries this is more prevalent. This isn’t uniform across the board though.
The things that generally get you a job at MBB are going to translate into other criteria.
Recently took a step back from senior to consultant (better company, significantly higher pay despite lesser title) and believe it or not I’m just a college grad. Nothing stopping me from becoming a PM at my current company (not interested in that path).
Though you may be in the US whereas I am in Canada.
Just one data point: in the high end independent consulting space, a significant number of opportunities (say 10 to 20%) ask for ex-MBB. I know many independents who worked at MBB 10+ years ago who still brand themselves as ex-MBB in order to gain access to those opportunities.
My personal experience, as I was with B4 before MBB, has been the most reflected in PE. This is where I have more recruiters reaching out than before. Other roles have been very similar

I agree that coming from DMBB you have a lot of options
