The age of working and living for one company is over, so I don’t feel any particular loyalty to one company or the other.
Interviewing can really suck though… no matter how prepared you are you can always be more prepared.
But in the end, once you start receiving offers, then everything feels worth it. Change can be exciting
I am in a similar situation. Been working at my firm for over 8 years and recently received an offer from another company with ~40% hike. As much as I am happy to have done well in the interviews and got a great offer, I am very nervous about changing companies - leaving my brand and credibility behind and starting all over again. My current company has excellent work like balance and flexibility, so that makes it harder. I am a bit old school and all for loyalty and staying on if your firm is good.
My partner tells me that it is different era - we are all replaceable and loyalty is no longer rewarded either side. So, I would be stupid to let this opportunity go.
I would say go through the hoops - get an offer and interact with current employees at the prospect firm. if everything is positive, take that leap of faith.
I left a company of 16 years....the leap of faith didn't really work out like I hoped and due to a crazy dysfunctional company, im looking to leave. I don't regret getting out but there is a risk with leaving something stable. Good luck with the jump.
