Personally I’d avoid PwC. Things are getting really bad here and culture taking a nose dive. Plus the poster above is right. It’s nearly 95% or higher you are associate until you hit 3 years in that position, so you’d need two more busy seasons to even be considered for promotion to senior. Then 3 years at senior, 3-5 manager, 3-5 senior manager, 3-5 director then you are up for partner. Think it’s a bad move from EY. If they giving you that bump it means they are desperate and you will probably be going into a really sticky situation
EY's culture isn't very good right now either
EY culture is terrible. Not sure if it's just me but this year is a nail in the coffin. Trying to survive this busy season and getting the hell out of here.
Avoid PWC
Just being informative and trying to help OP. I love my job and teams but sadly the culture around isn’t looking at all like it use to. First time in my career I’m seriously considering making a move and I have been here over 10 years
I think you are looking too far in advance pwc2 - really depends on situation and why you applied to pwc to begin with. If you don't like your group now, why not? You can always get a new job if you don't like pwc
I don’t recommend it unless you’re getting a 25% raise and 100% sure you will stick it out to senior at PwC. Note also that PwC typically requires an extra year (1.5 more years for you) at staff for the promotion.
Go back to ey and see if they will match offer or at least part way
There are very rarely “huge” bumps for laterals between competitors and even if the bump can be considered huge, you are going to get leveled out HARD your first comp talk which will bring you right back in line with the expected salary for your level.
are you coming in as senior or associate? if associate consider the length of time for promotion. is it for the same line of service?
im making the opposite move but for a diff line. got 28% bump from ey and ey has significantly better benefits. also pwcs having a mass exodus but not to industry, to other competitors which i think says a lot (not the work but the people and culture)
Still at EY and overworked. I just feel like something would go wrong. I freak out about going to work. Can’t even go to sleep without thinking about exceptions
I would avoid PwC right now - environment is declining pretty rapidly.
What percent is "huge"?
Take it now and enjoy the xmas break, why you can’t make up your own mind as an adult is also beyond me
Got offer at PwC and declined. I decided to go to industry instead. Feeling so unhappy here
Culture is very bad. I’m sure EY isn’t any better, but I wouldn’t leave one shit firm for another
I'm with EY2. Culture has changed a lot in the last few years
Yeah, accept that counter-offer, let me know how it works out for you in 6 months and get back to us.
Do not accept a counter offer.. either stay or go imo..
@EY8: Why are you unhappy?
