Question regarding getting a Master’s of financial analysis, and possibly sitting for CFA. Have a bacherlors degree in finance, and graduated right before Covid hit. During my undergrad, I didn’t take it seriously, GPA on the lower end, and never really got any valuable internships that would help me pursue an actual career in finance. Have 2 years working as a loan officer, looking to get into a corporate finance role, which I cannot get now because of lack of relevant experience. Any thoughts?

I think it’s a great move. Look at it this way - best case it springboards your career. Worst case you learn some things which you can use. You’re young, do it now because your promotions, raises, etc compound.

I would do the CFA rather than waiting 5 more years and arriving at the same conclusion!

like

I appreciate the insight!

Do the CFA now while alot is fresh in your mind. Masters is useless unless you are changing careers.

Thank you for sharing!

Getting a CFA would be your best bet right now. It will give you a little boost in this industry. Best of luck!

Do it now while you are young. As you get older, these are harder to pursue. Extra certifications always help.

Regarding an application follow up: I applied to an entry-mid level sales job at a hospitality tech company and want to follow up. The only person I can see on LinkedIn with the #hiring banner is the VP of sales but its for a far more senior position. Do I go through them to find out who the hiring manager is and have them connect me? Or do I treat them like the hiring manager with my follow up? Hi everyone, I just finished my masters degree a few weeks ago, and I’m looking for a new role. I obtained a bachelors degree in 2011 however that school closed and did not share records with WV higher education comission, neither are they at student clearinghouse. The school was accredited, during my time then lost accreditation a year after. (Mountain State University). Can anyone recommend how to handle this with HR if they can’t verify one of my degrees? Thank you!

I am currently in a PM role at a mid size firm in Austin. I’d really like to transition to a big tech firm (ideally apple, google or Microsoft) in the next 2-3 yrs. I have 6 YOE (1.5 year in PM). Is there a benefit to getting an MBA? I’m thinking weekend at Ross or Kellogg, or online at Ross.
Is it a big difference to have 4 YOPME w/MBA vs w/o?
