Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.
Favorite office chair?

You have to get up and go to natural light every hour or two even if it’s only for 5 minutes. Often, going outside during this short break will help ground me again.
I think investing in a SAD light might be worth it. I’d also try to make the space super inviting - for me that’s a nice rug, art, faux plants, good organizational solutions.
Sunrise alarm click to help you wake up plus a sad light to keep you awake. Make sure you go outside at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon. No exceptions.
a blue light will help with waking up but i think for bringing light into the room one of these would be great https://brightech.com/products/sky?variant=39448996708388¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=11082017966&utm_content=108935865059&utm_term=&gadid=463263665486&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjO2G0JfX9gIVja7ICh0gFwe_EAQYAiABEgKr2_D_BwE
A little Jimmy Buffet goes a long way🤙
On Amazon you can get special desk lights that put out full spectrum sunlight replacement. If you use that for a while mid-day, it really helps. Also, make sure you have really good lighting at your desk.
Hello, Fellow Basement Dweller - I agree with getting up and getting natural light, I underscore going outside for breaks when the weather allows.
I also recommend a desk lamp that uses natural lightbulbs and/or a standing lamp behind you that does the same. I also have a salt lamp closer to my desk that gives off a fair amount of light.
Twinkle lights around the holidays keep me sane. I’ve thought about getting clear ones and keeping them up year round but haven’t.
Also, recommend incorporating art work or Knick-knacks that bring happiness.
Play around with the desk set-up. The way I had mine for a good year was depressing. I changed it up so my back isn’t towards the main light source in the room and added some personal touches.
Lastly, I’m a coffee lover and the game changer for me was setting up a coffee bar in the basement. Makes it feel a bit cozy and it’s close by for all day convenience.
Buy a "happy light" I use mine for 30 mins each morning.
