I would say in most finance rolls, most companies won't even look twice if they dont see Series 7 or 63/65/66. They really do open many doors in the industry. Short-term, put your head down, study, pass the exams, especially if the company if willing to pay for them..... then choose whether you want to go tech or finance.
Thanks for your two cents. I agree, take advantage of the opportunity while I have it and continue to consider my options. Im partially worried about the longevity of financial advising due to roboadvisers and whatnot. My only caveat is whether this industry will be sustainable through the adoption and implementation of AI. Something like cyber security is only growing YOY and I’m not sure I can say the same about advising… just kinda my inner monologue recently. Thank you!

If they are going to pay you to study and sponsor for you to take the exams, take it. With the new regulations, you can maintain the licenses on your own for two years for the S66 and the S7 via MQP for 5 years. But if you show that you passed them once, a company would probably take a chance on getting you relicensed if you were licensed previously.
But if your not going to become a part of a team, and you are going to be building your own book of business organically, which is what a lot of Ameriprise offices do, it’s hard. I’m not going to lie to you, it’s very tough and not a lot of people make it, but the end result is worth it.
Get your licenses and run to a real firm! Ameriprise is awful!

It sounds like you're going down the wealth management route with those licenses... really not hard to get them. You're just studying for 3 months really. Just do it. It's an experience. Tells you if you really want to stick around or if you rather do something else.
Just wondering how difficult it was for you to get hired as a Financial Advisor Trainee at Ameriprise. I am in the interviewing stages currently. I would love to be in your position right now.
I would take the exams. They are paying you for it so why not. It cannot hurt to have more knowledge.
