Recruiters - behind the scenes of LinkedIn job seekers can select up to 5 job titles. Yet in advertising / marketing, titles vary greatly from company to company. 5 isn’t enough to get in all the variations. Is it best to use super specific titles (eg Brand Strategy Director) or more general skill-based titles that exclude the level of seniority (eg Brand Strategist)?

You make a really good point that I hadn't thought about but titles do vary greatly across different companies. I have always used more generic titles but I am curious on a recruiters thoughts on what is the best approach.

Brand planners, how much time do you typically get when you’re on a new account writing a brief for a new integrated campaign? I’ve noticed that HR, when explaining why a candidate didn’t get the job, tend to lean on “You’re great, but we had candidates with more experience in [skill relevant to the job].” I do believe this is true in some cases, but it can’t possibly be for all of them.

HR folks — what feedback have you obscured by offering that line instead?

found a role i’m really interested in and came across a post about it from hiring manager with a “reach out if you’re interested”. I’ve got a few connections to the company - is it better to try to go through someone I’m connected with in a different department and try to get referred, or just jump on the hiring manager’s post and reach out to them cold?

Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Gave them 4-5 days, started planning for how I’d get those days off work during insane times at current job, and now not a single word from them to confirm a date. Been over a week now. Sad. Pretty jaded. What can I do? Already followed up
