I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

Have only heard bad things from my boys who moved to sf. Chicago is just cold but beautiful. If you can manage the cold, go to chicago
chicago because the money goes significantly farther there
You’d have to give me a generational amount of money to move to SF. 🤮

It is tech, but I think we’ve seen a flight from the BA and SF is no longer as important for one’s career
I agree in general but the networking and the job opportunities in the bay area are way better - conversations with the startups, events, etc. With things getting back to normal, I believe it would be helpful if someone is in SF or Bay Area. It’s not a big deal but depending on where you want to be next in your career, just something to be aware of so that you can make an informed decision.
I agree with everyone. I lived in SF and it was great during the dot com days. If your in tech you be in any big city. Now live in NYC but expect to work from home
Chicago by far. SF is only worth it if you get higher comp or a better role.
