Bain & Company Fishes, I wonder if you have suggestion on office selection, I am finishing my dual degree(advanced degree and applying for post MBA level job) next year and now applying for consulting roles in the states. I have never been to the states and will only arrive on campus in Fall. I am keen on Seattle and SF offices but I have no affiliation or experience there. Any suggestions? Honestly, apart from the contacts, it won't help you.
1. To make microfinance work, you will need significant throughput. You simply won't have the capacity to review any applications on detail if you want to make money. This needs a sophisticated technology solution.
2. It will be government/charity kickbacks that make or break your business model.

If you haven't done PE before Bschool you have minimal chance of doing it afterwards. Post MBA associate positions at PE extremely competitive and in vast majority go to people with PE exp before B school. Haven't heard of cases otherwise, atleast in USA. Obviously might be diff if you have contacts or go to a very low cap fund where you have particular relevant sector experience
Though an MBA is not essential to advance in my career, going to bschool in and of itself is still a goal for me. Not just to advance my career, but to also learn, network, and experiences.
I went to the US (Ivy League) too for undergrad, and although I could have still got into Accenture with a Bachelors from my own country - that experience has transformed my perspective as an individual, and of the world. Not something I would obtain considering how incredibly backwards some things are in my country.
So no, it’s not a lie. In fact, maybe I’d learn of a new field, thinking, or meet people entirely in bschool that may enhance that cause. There’s more to life that I want to experience and than just creating my own company without that breadth of exposure, or climbing up the corporate ladder, or making it big in a PE shop as the only end in mind.
PE is just a potential stepping stone in the grander scheme of things (that seemed to line up considering where I am now), but I’m open to others that may be more well suited.
for that? In this case specifically when it comes to managing funds or valuation work.
This is also to craft my “story” for bschools apps in regards to what I want to do right after graduation.
