Can't you take the higher salary role and still work towards the long term goal ?
I don’t think it will impact your career goals anymore than sticking it out at your current agency for longer. Take the job, but keep looking. Just don’t be apparent to your new company that you’re already ready to leave. You need to be 100% focused on yourself to survive in this industry. Take the extra pay for the meantime and continue working to your goal
Without knowing what your aspirations are exactly, I'd say stay where you are and work ASAP on your aspirations. Going elsewhere adds stress to starting a new job at a new place with new people and dynamics and will take energy away from you working on the actual career change. You're already doing OK and have already established rapport and relationships with current coworkers
@analyst1 New jobs take so much energy out of you though- is it not better to find the new role that works toward a goal now, rather that defer & distract?
Or option #3 the new career? Don't defer your goals for 20k- 20k is nothing
Agreed, 20k is enough for it all to go to taxes
@Analyst OP- literally made that move a year ago. Still not happy in the role I’m in. If you know you don’t love your current role, I wouldn’t advise making a switch for the same role. Then you’re stuck with the same issue 6 months down the road, with a new move on your resume that you’ll have to explain to dream job company.
I vote for sticking it out where you are while you figure out how to make the career move you WANT. Good luck!
