Left ACN at 90k (SAP background). Got offer for 115k a few years ago. Not tier 1 city
Lots of flexibility. Whatever it takes to be competitive in the marketplace, as a consultant / solution arch, ~ $130k is typical upper bound, but can definitely go higher if warranted.
Pay varies a lot by city. Tier 1 city for consultant with 3-4 years would start at 110 - 125 and max out at 150 - 160 or so. Because comp is local and even practice dependent, we look strongly at comparable pay from other firms and try to give market value for each person.
Slalom is a local model. Each office has its own p&l and focuses on selling within a geographic region. Most projects are local, but a small amount have some travel component for key meetings.
All depends on the project. Like any consulting firm you are going to probably want some FaceTime in office to get to know your team.
But who knows, maybe they have an account nearer where you live. Never hurts to reach out.
90-135
Curious how much someone coming in with a technical background might make? Above 100 it sounds like?
I’ve heard there’s not a lot of travel with Slalom, are things typically done in office or are their remote opportunities? I’m outside but not “near” cities
Also curious about this. What is project staffing like? Also is their pay specific to location or flat across offices?
Location dependent pay. E.g At 130k now (analytics) non tier 1. This would be > 160k easily in a more expensive market
Remote work is client dependent and Slalom would try to find you those opportunities which best match your preferences. Get it in writing if it’s that important
What is progression like at the firm?
i.e A - C - SC - M - SM etc... are there straight progression? Different tracks etc
Also since base pay is so higher compared to big 4 for relative experience. Is there no performance bonus? What’s the catch here.
The catch is C - M is compressed into a single “consultant” title. There is a principal consultant level that is equiv of exp manager - Sr Manager, then a whole slew of leadership levels.
I wouldn’t say pay is higher than big 4, just that we pay market. If you are a few years in and have the skills, you can get a bump coming here just like you could anywhere else.
How do bonuses work at Slalom? Are the numbers you mentioned including an annual bonus?
Performance-based bonuses at Slalom. Average between 10-25%, depending on level
Average bonus at my office was 6% with a pretty flat distribution
SC3, would you say that there are a lot of opportunities that offer remote work or would that put a negative persona on you as a consultant if you don’t prefer travel opportunities , as it does at Big 4 firms
@C2 - Most consultants in my office have a 30-60 minute commute and work 1 day remote. If there is a good reason for it, there is a ton of flexibility in working schedule, including number of days remote if you're a high performer. We also have a strong office culture, so it's a big plus if you're close to the office and work from there instead of wfh: free beer and fun stuff happening all the time.
SC4, for complete transparency do you need to hit a certain target (high performer) to allow for extra remote days? I only ask because I’m about 90 minutes from your closest office currently and though I wouldn’t mind the commute a couple days a week, 4 days may be too much
