Seeking advice: Been in IT Audit for a Big 4 for 6 years, almost completing M1 year. While I could stay another 2 years before senior manager, I feel like I have no work life balance and my salary jump is pretty stagnated. Apparently experienced hires are getting paid 10-15K more than me as a base. Wondering if this is the signal that I need to leave in order to get a bigger bump in pay? Is it better to move laterally to GRC or do a career change to a technical cyber role?

I came to US on an L1b in 2018 and switched to H1b in 2021 Oct. Current 797/visa expiry is stated as July 2023, by which I would have spent 1.5 years on H1b visa (and 3.5 years on L1b before that). So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?
