Continuation: I don't have the healthiest relationship with how my brain functions. I often say: My brain and I aren't on speaking terms. We only talk to each other for work... besides that... we really don't get along.
I'm desperately trying to find a positive to my brain, but it's impossible. Sometimes I feel like I should just quit my job as an event planner and demote myself... something where I don't have to battle my brain almost every day.... but part of me, the incredibly stubborn side of me, forces me to stick to this path and be resilient....
Just looking for some guidance from ADHDers who have thriving careers.... how do you do it? does it ever get better?
If you at all have the resources, I really suggest getting an organizing coach. Mine has been amazingly helpful.
You've got this! I've been there and now say my ADHD is my super power with how I'm able to pivot so quickly. It takes a lot of practice to become diligent in writing everything down. I carry around a notebook and pen with me wherever I go. So if I had to add something to my list, I have a place for it to go instead of relying on my own memory. When I'm planning events I highly rely on PM tools (Asana is my fave) so I don't forget the small details. I actually have to set a calendar alarm every day so I don't forget to use it or check it. And I don't think that will ever go away, because the second I think I've got it on my own, I take that alarm off, and I completely forget about it for a week. I have to sometimes be my own cheerleader and let myself know I've got this.
