you have seniors?
It's a cycle of no one teaching and everyone fixing things themselves. Take the damn time to grow your staff under you or this will only get worse.
Exactly
Well if you don’t give seniors good salary and wlb, good people leave the tax industry and you are left with being top heavy. I know many seniors who left just because of salary and then you end up hiring new low quality people and then rinse and repeat

You kick that can down the road and put “meets expectations” on their reviews and hope that whoever made the decision to promote/hire them also gets workpapers where book numbers don’t tie and then contemplates their decision making on why that person is a senior 😂…..nah just kidding you should probably help that motivator out.
It also depends on if it’s an ongoing thing or just one off. Anyone can have an off day
This happens far too often - book numbers don’t tie or the return and work papers don’t tie to each other. These types of things should be caught by the seniors and never sent to senior managers in that shape, but seems like this happens more and more lately.

I’ve started just doing my own prep the last week. I have a personal policy that everything should be up to review at least a week before deadline or else everything gets compressed and I’m not pulling all nighters like in Big 4. I’m planning to be done by Friday and only putting out fires over the weekend at night when my kids sleep.
My plan too!
The sad part is there’s not much training going on because everyone is always so busy with their own works.
Did you reach out and ask why the wp isn’t tied?
lol every single time. better to prep urself
