Should I be worried? 24yo and been at my current job for almost a year, and recently my manager asked me "I know your generation doesn't tend to stay in jobs for long. How long do you see yourself here? Do you feel the same?" I was honest by saying I may go back to Hollywood someday in several years, but I GREATLY enjoy the stability of this job so I can't really predict the future. I work for the state and it's very difficult to fire people. I feel weird about her question, should I be worried?

Sounds like she just wants some insight into your goals - like she values you but wants to manage her expectations about how long you're planning to stick around. If you have regular 1:1s, bring up your career trajectory in the next one. What does she see you doing at the company in a year? Or over time? What would you need to accomplish to get there? Tell her what you enjoy about the job and what you're curious about at this current company.

I don't think it's a red flag, rather if you play it right, it's an opportunity to lay a foundation for eventual advancement.

I agree with this

I got that same question once (though not nearly as bluntly). Here was my response:
I’m always going to go where I can learn the most. Right now, there’s a lot [you/your team] can teach me. Until that changes, I’m not looking to jump.
