Yes. You should always try to get more money.
Nah Freelance.
Always ask for higher -- no one's going to turn you down because you're asking. If they can't give it to you, they'll let you know.
Glad to see this post! Currently in the negotiation process where I’m asking for 5k more than what they offered. Ugh so nerve wracking
Always negotiate. The company has gone through the entire process and selected you to be part of your team. Remember it’s an expensive process. A company isn’t gonna rescind an offer over an ask of a few thousand more.
Yes, especially if you have another offer or counter offer on the table for more. Share that other offer/counter offer with the new company to show someone else is willing to give you more money. If they can't offer you more, they will tell you and then you can make the call if you should drop it and accept. Don't be afraid to speak up and ensure you're properly compensated for your value!
Negotiate so that in a years time you don’t get a raise, you’ll still be making more than market value, it offsets itself 😀
The risk you run is being underbid by someone else interviewing for the same position. So, if you really want the job, and the pay is fair, you might want to take it.
The only time I haven't asked for more is when they offered me exactly what I asked for during the first phone conversation. It was kind of like: well yea, that's all I wanted, thanks guys! Otherwise, if it hasn't been spoken about at length previously and they're just throwing out a number, you should always ask for more.
If you are made an offer you can and should negotiate it then it’s best time to get most salary
YES MAKE IT RAIN
No! There are probably 5 other very qualified job candidates they have interviewed already. If you know that offer is fair you’re being greedy and they’ll know it too. They can always pull the offer. I’ve seen it happen.
Wow there is some bad advice here.
Rule 1: never negotiate against yourself. So ask for more. An offer would only get pulled if the number was seriously out of band
I agree with asking for more especially if it's in a reasonable range and represents your market value. I disagree with sharing counter offers that's not negotiating, that's holding some one hostage. It sends a message that you can be bought. It's one thing when people walk into your office and ask for more money and tell you they are getting calls about other jobs that pay more but wanted to stay and are earnest. It's completely different when someone gets a job offer and says I can get more somewhere else. To that person I wish them well and tell them to take the other job
Go for it! It's an easier chat now than afterwards.
Then again that job offer is golden
You can always ask for a review later
Always
If I really don’t want the job, is it wrong to ask for a lot to potentially price myself out? 🤣
