McKinsey & Company Any advice to help prepare for data science analyst role at top consulting firms (McKinsey & Company EY Boston Consulting Group etc)? Any materials, open source platform recommended to take on freelance data science project? When should I start actively looking and applying? I am a new grad who is working in tech as a marketing analyst I’m looking to pivot to marketing& sales data science consulting next year. Would like someone with similar backgrounds offer some practical tips.
I need a career mentor for the tech industry!!!
I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

Likely, yes, in my personal opinion

IBM did something like this 5 years ago. They mandated that everyone had to work in an IBM 'main' office, closing several of the smaller satellite offices and removing all remote options. They also required that you be co-located with your team meaning that some people were expected to relocate even if they were at an IBM office. They did offer a severance package for those who didn't want to relocate, most people took the package. It was absolutely a strategic decision meant to reduce their workforce.
My guess is that the RTO is a combination of RIF and the general view many in leadership have about WFH.
Too bad it's the employer's market now and not ours. Best of luck to you Snap employees!
100%
Definitely, and here I thought Evan was better at managing layoffs than elsewhere. If anything, you’re welcome to apply at Wayfair!
OBVIOUSLY
Sure. But i'd recommend returning to the office anyway, if it buys you time to find the right next new position rather than just quitting rashly and finding yourself stuck, especially with the current layoff situation in big tech.
Besides, if they lay you off then RTO won't be a problem for you anway.
Sorry you're having to go through this
Yes, people quit no severance
Again?! 😬
Yes.
Of course, every company does this lol
Unfortunately, it's layoffs but without all the PR chaos
Yikes, this is another "creative" way for employers to get rid of people. Hope there's some push back on this. Such a shame for such a great company
100%. My company is doing the same thing -changing/repealing every good benefit (WFH, flex PTO, etc.) so people are leaving in droves. Kinda smart but annoying and shady
Nope lol
Feel like they’re prepping the company to be acquired tbh. Potential buyers don’t want to deal with making everyone come back to the office and the natural decrease in workforce is more beneficial than paying severances cost/ value wise.
Interesting take! Any other reason you think it’s trending that way? I kinda thought it’s mostly just that the CEO and COO are very work from office oriented.
