Starting full-time @ MBB this month. I’m really interested in recruiting growth equity (GE) at some point. I’m pretty familiar with PE recruiting but not sure how growth differs. Anyone have perspective on any of the following: 1- Does GE recruit on cycles? If so what is the typical timing? 2- Are modeling tests standard as part of the interview process? 3- How are consultants perceived in the industry? 4- Do large GE firms utilize headhunters? 5- Do large GE firms have operating roles?
Have a verbal offer with a call on Monday to discuss details. I'm thinking about not giving any further information on Monday on my numbers (I already gave a minimum which I'd be OK with, which maybe was a mistake?) or my opinion and then doing negotiation over email. Do I have the right idea here? And if you don't have competing offers but are interviewing elsewhere, and they don't budge on timelines, any recommendations for what I should do to bump up the offer I currently have? ...
Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team. New leadership than when I was hired
Is a six sigma certification worth mentioning in my resume if I’m applying for strategy consulting roles? Or is it just a waste of space?
Is there such thing as too much ass kissing in a job interview? Or everyone likes for the interviewee to do their research and act like they would really like to work for the company and the creative director they are interviewing with?
Has anyone made the jump to FP&A? If so, can you please comment what interview questions you were asked?
What's the best way to prepare a business case presentation? I've been invited to a final round interview for a medical device company as a process optimization consultant. They sent me a client case study. In the case there are pain points of the client, and some numbers to analyze their workflow and recommend them to use their medical devices for process improvement. I'm not sure how to stucture it. how would you approach it?
Honest question- In this time where women are striving for equality and men need to play a key role in making this happen, why do we have women only conferences? How does alienating men help? #GHC19😑
Get the interview
Currently negotiating comp. Any typical/market salary for a senior counsel (8-10 YOE) role? Especially based comp? Major market, very late stage venture-backed startup. Any and all input deeply appreciated. Thanks!
I got recruited for an in house position...3 months pregnant. I know I am not guaranteed parental leave, what are the pros/cons of telling the interviewer about my condition?
Have an interview with an AI company next week. Role is in sales. Recruiter suggested i read Prediction Machines since I have a very introductory knowledge of AI/ML. Since there’s limited time, what short books or podcasts/videos would you all recommend in lieu of prediction machines?
ClearView Healthcare Partners anyone willing to provide a referral? Applying for an entry level consultant position (PhD). Happy to chat about my credentials, resume etc.
Hi Microsoft Fishes! I am looking for a referral for this program management internship https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/job/1085296/Program-Management-Intern-Opportunities?jobsource=linkedin&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=linkedin&utm_campaign=linkedin-feed Worked at Deloitte for 2 years top performer, going to grad school in Sep! Any help would be highly appreciated 😁
Honest question. When a client asks you a question that you need to refer to the billing attorney (assume it makes sense to do so and copy the client on convo in adding them in) are you all refraining from using the term billing attorney to clarify a role or is it pretty common to do so in client communications? Had one attorney show a sensitivity to the term but never had that happen before. Wondering if that is a common or uncommon sinsitivity?
Anyone familiar with GLP in Chicago? Getting mixed reviews about this firm, but would like to interview with them.
In July I missed my promo to SM. A woman has been preferred even if she was underqualified (my MD's words), as at Accenture we have quotas for women. I'm interviewing with Deloitte, they told me I'll help building the practice. In the meantime I was assured by my MD that in December I'll get the promo. I don't really care changing company, even if I've built a network, I don't think I need to wait if I can. Your thoughts?
Just got my exit offer, approx. 30% increase in TC to work for a pre-IPO tech company with better WLB and growth opportunity. At D, I feel overworked and underpaid / underleveles. But I am sad to leave my team and will weirdly miss this place. Stockholm syndrome?
Overnight flight delay on American due to defect. I paid 300 for a hotel room expecting American to reimburse. They are offering 20k, 200 voucher, & $120 check. AA is refusing to reimburse full 300.
How do some of the Big 4/ACN levels compare to job roles and titles at Amazon? I’m a manager within the Accenture Security practice with strong focus on security compliance and risk. Trying to see which Amazon non titles would be equivalent to or above my Accenture role. If someone has a career path (analyst, senior analyst, mgr, sr mgr, etc) that would be helpful.
I’m wondering from those who have moved from account to strategy how you’ve liked it and what were your motivations, pros and cons of the jump and what you think about the trajectory of your career and salary now. The head of strategy at my agency recently said I could be on her team and I’m extremely intrigued but surprised as I just always thought I’d be on the account side since I do so well there.
I am on H1b visa and so is my wife. My visa stamp is expired, and if I go on H4 Ead and want to visit my country, how does coming back to US works? Need stamping or something with Ead?
Manager with specialized experience (sector specific DDs and growth strategy) looking to move to MBB. Do you recommend reaching out to a 3rd party recruiter, MBB recruiter or reaching out to partners/practice leadership?
Word to the other newbies like me. ALWAYS choose PPO over HMO for insurance (if you have the option). The extra cost is so worth it for the quality of your healthcare and your stress levels.
Guns and tequila. The second strangest interview I’ve ever had. Today on Kingdom of Failure.
Anyone know someone who has exited to D. E. Shaw? Just curious on if people like working there, the culture, etc.
New to home purchase. Is there a significant tax benefit to having a home office? I have a spare room I can convert into a home office but I usually work out of my bed or a couch.
Expecting my first child in Nov and starting a new consulting role in a few weeks. Totally new field for me coming from engineering. Any advice for starting the new role and handling mom life?
Before accepting offer Check few things like Connect to social media contacts of the company you join and understand work culture. Do some research on division you are joining, it's market growth and prospects. Understand the value and contribution of your division that you are joining. Competition of the products and services your are about to handle. Take home salary and Deductions are explained transperently. Your grade in which you are appointed and level above to understand growth.
Seems to be a lot of advertising folks on here. Are any layoffs happening there? Good friend in media planning. Is that safe right now?
Dear new freelancers: stop lowballing your rate by charging like you were a fulltimer. You have to pay for your own healthcare, equipment, holidays, sick days AND downtime between gigs.
In a rapidly growing practice, and perhaps 2 years from (non-equity) “partnership”. I like my team and the work I do, but I’ve only ever been a consultant and am tempted to jump to industry to try it out. Interviewing for a Fortune 20 company and applying to others. Maybe FAANG. Let’s say I’m 60% driven by comp, 40% driven by impact. Am I crazy for looking to leave? Should I just continue to ride this one-way train?
Anyone here who has done EB1C on an approved H1b having worked at an international subsidiary for more than a year. I am moving to UK for more than a year and currently hold an h1b which is valid till January 2024. Suppose I plan to come back by the end of dec 2022, what all do I need to show to be eligible for EB1C.
