For sure apply. But look at how many applications the job has. 100+? Then ask yourself if you think your portfolio is so head and shoulders above the other 100+ candidates that they’d make an exception for you.
I think my book is damn great. And I think having to be in office is dumb. But I know I’m not getting hired to a hybrid role in a city I don’t live in
A lot of remote employees may have been grandfathered in. A lot of companies if they aren’t requiring remote to come back to office just change to make any new hires hybrid in my anecdotal experience as I’ve been looking as well
Is there a chance? Yes.
Especially if you’ve worked on the account (or a direct competitors account) before, and/or there’s an office in your city for the same agency.
If neither of those apply, I wouldn’t bet on it.
This is an employers market, they don’t need to hire remote unless you have a very hard to find, specialized skill set, and are going to prioritize local candidates. If it specifies hybrid, chances are slim, as most agencies are getting pretty strict on in-office policies and remote workers are the ones fearing for their jobs.
😞 I know, remote isn’t embraced as much. I’ll still apply, nothing to lose. Thanks for the perspective!
