I was a Golder employee for over 10 years when we were acquired by WSP. Everything seemed like business as usual at first and then they switched our accounting system over to the WSP system. Invoices never went out, clients got pissed they weren't getting bills, and PMs could do nothing about it. It was a disaster especially if you were a PM trying to get paid and get your subs paid. Mass attrition started around the same time due to the incompetence and continued toxic positivity from leadership telling us for 18+ months that everything will be fixed soon and we are the greatest company ever! Many motivated employees left, including myself. Hopefully the acquisition of Wood goes smoother when they transition their accounting systems. Benefits were relatively unchanged other than PTO. Those with over 10 years got reduced PTO due to the different benefit structures between the 2 companies. WSP has the lovely "unlimited" PTO for senior employees. This rubbed a lot of people the wrong way as after 25 days (?) of "unlimited" you needed to seek ridiculous approvals up the corporate ladder and was actually less time off than the highest tier of "limited" PTO and a week+ lower than Golder's vacation+sick structure. Overall, I think they will eventually figure it out, but many weren't willing to ride out the storm any longer.
There’s been some turmoil lately as they try to get a lot of recent acquisitions incorporated into the same systems. But overall it’s by far the best engineering consulting firm I’ve worked for (out of 3)
