Hey Fishbowl community! I currently work as a Sales Support Specialist with 3 YOE working at a SaaS company. My dream career is to work at Microsoft or Google. I am open to different opportunities that exceed 80k+ per year. I also have a BA in Business Admin. If anyone can refer me to a great remote position I would greatly appreciate it! 😀
Any remote openings for Data Science domain?

I’d have done it if I don’t have school age kids… with remote work, it doesn’t make sense for you to stay in Chicagoland if you don’t enjoy like it there.

Do it - worst case you’ll go back but you probably won’t want to. I left Chicago 3 years ago :)

We just left Chicago for a much warmer and statistically safer places with much better schools. Probs not going back 😂

Gary, IN?
If you are going to leave the land of R Kelly, biggest consideration for me is quality of schools.. but otherwise big upside..
Even if it’s a 2-3 year thing. I’m sure the kiddos will love it

That’s what we’re thinking. We have a newborn but are strongly considering it since pre-k won’t be a consideration 2-3 years.

Sounds great on paper but you’ll have a hard time making friends. Believe it or not the relationships you forge meeting other parents your kid’s age are valuable and can last 10-20 years at this point. Pick a place you truly want to educate your children, a place they will be around their grandparents and cousins, and go there.
Maybe a year tops, for funsies. But that’s all.

Not the same situation as you but we just spent the last 12 mo of pandemic working remote while traveling around airbnbs. We just drove around following warm weather around the country. It was incredible and would 100% recommend. That’s not the same as staying in one place but it was really fun! Only came back because expecting our first. Great to know you’re thinking about this even with a newborn! Maybe we can do that too.
