So, the first month of the new year will soon end. We generally reminisce on the year's events in December, but should we plan the trajectory of the year in January? If not, why?

For me, I plan my PTO or any special celebrations early in the year to guarantee time away from the office. Do you plan ahead for anything else? What about adjusting your budget if you receive a raise? As an example - $1 for me and $2 for savings?

I try to plan the year early, too, especially for things like PTO, big events, and any financial adjustments like budgeting for a raise. It helps me stay ahead instead of scrambling later. Do you usually stick to the plans you set in January, or adjust as the year goes on? I find that what is going on now vs. in 7 months can be very different.

Absolutely agree. I find it helpful to have a monthly check-in to review what’s working and figure out any adjustments that may be needed. The original goals and plan stay the same, but I can adjust the approach as necessary to reach them.

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.

Any opinions/tips?

Is the compensation plan editable to allocate ex gratia amount updated post promotion this September.

CL8 here..can't edit and allocate the amount to the components.

I work at a Financial Institution and have recently been approached about a Director role with my prior company. It’s a great opportunity but I have 2 young kids (Preschool/Elementary ages) and I don’t want to sacrifice time with them for career advancement. I would love to hear from working moms in senior leadership roles to understand if it’s possible to balance both, or is it best to wait a few more years? Not happy currently and looking to move, but unsure of pursuing lateral vs. a promotion

Hi Fishes,
What is the timelines for appaisals and promotions in Accenture? I joined 10 months back and have 3 yrs of working experience. I am one of the best performers and have received recognitions too. How much raise should i expect? (I don't want to look too ambitious but also don't want to undervalue)
Please guide.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

When should I negotiate new equity packages?

I report directly to my Chief Growth Officer and my startup is about to raise our series B. I joined the company 1 month after series A and I was told by my boss that employees get equity based on their future value to the company, not based on their success in the short term. So should I negotiate equity in every round of funding?
