I have received an email after my interview with HCL from consultant stating I have selected for HCL technologies and asking for information like, when U was interviewed and whether I received any link for documents upload from HCL.
I replied to that email saying interview has been done and I am yet to receive any link from HCL for documents upload nor any call from HCL HR.

No you’re not the only one who believes those are two different skills (because they objectively ARE). It’s just unfortunate that employers want to cut corners and get 2 for 1 instead of hiring the best people possible for each task. They also want social media managers to be a designer too 🙄
It’s happening everywhere. It’s one of the reasons I believe people are not getting interviews or job offers. The unrealistic expectations, especially for smaller organizations has only been encouraged by the AI promise of replacing entire creative teams with just a couple people.
Ridiculous expectations where expertise is nowhere to be found will eventually drive down quality and make everything look generic. Just a matter of time.
I believe we are headed toward 2 camps of thinking that will create a divide in the working world. The purists who believe in people first, let them use AI tools but value expertise/experience and retain full teams. The other are the corner cutters, doing everything on the cheap, fast and in full AI mode. The thinking and mastery will start to differentiate where quality can be found.
Human-created will be prized and sought out.
I work at a company where I am a Graphic Designer, Photographer, Webmaster, Social Media expert, Sign Expert for 8 location across the state and event coordinator, planner, setup and cleanup. What happened to doing Graphic Design?
My guess is, as far as thier social media profikes are concerned, they are big on using video posts over still images. So, they need someone to manage thier social media prescense, but one that alsp has video editing experience
This is so true, seeing it everywhere. The assumption is 1 or 2 people with AI can now replace a full team spanning print, web, video, social, experiential, and even strategy, copywriting and editing. How many disciplines is that? How many combined years of experience, honed focus and mastery offered by a full team just vanishing?
Absolutely absurd how AI was been twisted into a cutting-corner tool rather than a freeing-up-to-do-high-level-thinking/discerning tool it was long-positioned to be.
In the end companies are getting what they pay for, while the layoffs prove disastrous to livelihoods and families.
And thinking far enough down the line it’s important to remember that even if all those laid off ramp up beautifully on the AI tool du jour, they’ll still be competing for a fraction of available roles in this new era of AI. Teams will be kept small for the foreseeable future, or until the realization hits that quality does indeed matter. By that time how many of us will have had to pivot to other non creative roles for a fraction of the pay we were earning.
A massive career shakeup. Hitting full time and freelance alike. Where people’s savings have evaporated, personal wealth vanished, more people without healthcare, mass hardships beyond anything we could have envisioned when AI was initially getting everyone excited about how we would be freed of the production work to focus on the creative work.
