I mean we have the lowest revenue per head out of the Big 4, terrible healthcare/dental coverage, no raises this year, no bonus this year (and awful bonuses vs. Deloitte/PWC even at the best of times), and now no PTO. We certainly aren’t on par with PWC/Deloitte at least

like

@PWC1 your comp isn’t actually worse if you compare similar groups though. I’m a post-MBA hire, my friends at PW’s ended up in PWC DDV or Strategy&. This year is an exception to most rules, but typically PWC DDV actually just about matches us after bonus. And when you include bonus, Strategy& is actually about 20% higher salary

Mmm waffles

Unlimited PTO is just a way for them not to have to pay out PTO when you leave the firm

Nah, we've also hard turned into implementation and staff aug ... We're the new IBM

Where was all this EY tea when I was asking about EY vs Accenture a few weeks ago 😭😭 (I’m still about to be paid twice as much as I am at D so I guess I’m still out on top but still)

Well. PwC doesn’t have unlimited PTO. But we do have unlimited sick days. And enough vacation most people wouldn’t feel like they are lacking (probably most people feel it’s hard to find the ability to take the time they have).

TIL another reason unlimited PTO has become a thing.

Yes yes it is 🍸

Yes! Finally! We can sit at the big kids table!!

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?

Planning for a family (of 4) trip to either Greece or Portugal in late fall this year. Flight costs are almost same. Any pointers as to which one would provide biggest bang for the buck? We're mostly laid back, don't care for top end luxury, not great hikers. Just looking a relaxing vacation.

How does the holiday weekend impact your quota? Still the same? It's still the same for me, which I feel is unfair.

Does anyone else get covid guilt? I met friends for a vacation this past weekend. We are all vaccinated and wore masks in Ubers and until we were seated at restaurants and bars. I just can’t help but feel guilty and worried that we were irresponsible as the delta variant surges.

Debating on investing on our first rental property. We were initially thinking about a rental in our area code (northern virginia) but all ideas/threads on here seem to indicate renting a beach front property on airbnb would be a win-win. Get mortgage covered over the summer and use it as a vacation home during winter. Is it that straightforward, what are we missing? Any reasons why we should not invest in a beachfront and instead stick to original plan? Tia!

My agency technically has unlimited PTO but our managers quietly disapprove of the policy. It’s the kind of place where people make you feel guilty for taking it... (cont)

I need perspective. I was scheduled for a bunch of spa services today before a vacation. Early in the morning, a spa lady calls me to reschedule. I tell her I can’t reschedule due to my job. She replies that she remembers me mentioning that from a previous appointment she “helped me rescue.” She never acknowledged knowing me prior to that comment. I was offended as it came across as judging my stress level and availability based on a service I received years ago. Did I get unreasonably upset?

Does PwC Canada allow rollover of unused vacation days?

Just finalized and booked my wife and I to a vacation in Europe for end of the year. Feels amazing to call it our honeymoon after 4 years of marriage ❤️ Delayed gratification and totally worth it.

Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?

Q for the people that like WFH and never want to go back - what is your living situation? Exited to industry in May and already looking to leave. However the other person I'm working with is going for maternity leave soon. We are working together as PMO for a huge transformation project and I technically can't leave until she is back because there is no one else to step in.... I feel like it's not ethical to leave them now but i can't take it anymore. They rushed me to join them and I didn't know that was because she was leaving soon.. :( What are your thoughts ?
