Preach! I’ve had to do unpaid projects, study their whole product suite, and still get ghosted. And the “are you interviewing elsewhere?” question feels one-sided. If they want top talent, they need to invest in training and respect candidates’ time. It’s gotten out of hand.

Totally agree with all of this!!!
1. You're off base here -- being asked this is a feature for me and I don't get mad at it. Yes I am, but of course you're my favorite and if you were to make me an offer I would take it, but I have a few other good companies on the line. This only helps your chances, just like it's easier to pick up a chick if you're already married or dating another one.
2. Never do this, it's ridiculous, I agree.
3. It's not my job to train you for the role I'm hiring you for unless that's implied by the role. If I hire for a role like Jr Engineer where I expect to train you I pay you a lot less money. The market is crazy right now, why would I get someone who needs training when I have 18 other candidates who will work for the same pay who already have the skill?
For 1. I assumed OP was implying companies are asking that because companies think they have all the power, and any answer (like the one you gave which reeks neediness) would be used against the candidate either in negotiation or rejection, hence the only good answer is some kind of non answer
