Congrats! 🎉
I won’t be much help because I like operations but I also like money.
One thing to consider is going the consulting route and chasing that $$$$$ use it as an opportunity to save up, invest, pay off debt, etc (whichever you choose to focus on) Then if it’s really just not the thing for you.. make the switch to an operations based role. Good luck! Remember in the long run everything will work out.
Consulting isn't easy, but the exit ops coming out of it will be more than what you can get from an ops role
Very true - consulting opens up so much more, but I think Ops is the more chill role. I guess it depends on what you're interested to
If you can suffer through 2 or 3 years of consulting, your exit ops are quite good. How narrow in scope is the ops role?
I’d be managing a variety of accounts ensuring they stay current. I was also brought on with my tech/PM exp to improve processes and do projects
These decisions can be so difficult. I don't envy the position you're in right now, but I do want to say you should go with your gut. If there's one way that you already feel wouldn't be a good fit for you, don't ignore that feeling! I do appreciate POM1's answer above too.... if you *need* that extra money right now, then you could always try out the consulting job & take advantage of the extra income for awhile. Then if it doesn't work out, go for something in operations again. Good luck on your decision!!
Decide based on your current goal. If you want professional and career growth, you can choose the stable and safe job. If you want financial stability, then choose the job that pays well.
