Team, what’s the protocol/ best practice for announcing pregnancy at work.
I understand the recommendation is to wait till the week 20 anatomy scan before any discussion. Then the order should be:
a) Inform HR - understand benefits, rights, and duties.
b) Inform coach - come up with a plan for staffing, in case the current engagement leads wants a quick roll off and then c) inform the engagement lead.

At D I thought have to give 30 days. I just looked it up briefly as I’m newly pregnant. Normally I wouldn’t feel the need to wait so long but with all the layoffs I’m considering keeping my mouth shut until I have to notify.

like

Why would you wait to notify? I’d think you’d want as many protections on your side as possible.

I work in advertising so mine was a little different. I notified around 20w +/-

- Notified my boss, SVP, and the CCO, this was more so because we’re friends and I knew they would help me navigate HR.
- Then I notified HR and talked through (and negotiated!) my leave.
- Worked with my boss to find coverage, in my case it was bringing in a contractor and transferring some projects to other directors.

Your current engagement lead shouldn’t just roll you off - I’d raise that as a huge issue if they try.

As far as HR, you should be able to find all you need by searching the leaves team on dnet.

When I was in consulting, I notified HR, then my practice lead, then my counselor. In industry, I notified my boss, then HR.

Whatever you do, I wouldn’t take a lot of time between notifying HR and your boss, if you decide to go in that order.

Had the same Q!

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

Got a GRE score of 320 (162V 158Q). Did my masters from A&M (full scholarship, 3.8 GPA, journal publications. Have been working as a consultant for a small tech consulting firm for the past 1 year and was considering a MBA + Law or Public Policy masters dual degree program. My scores are still valid for atleast 1 year. Aiming for M7 or Oxbridge in Europe. Would using this GRE score be realistic for the school given I've just 1 YOE and my quant was lower. Additional Posts in We're Pregnant!

Hi everyone, have a noob question here. When did you share the pregnancy news with your employer? Not sure when it’s optimal to do that. :)

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

Has anyone been successful in negotiating the schedule on a global pregnancy bill? My provider won't bill by visit and split the global cost into four payments all due by the 28th week. I don't understand how that's legal since it is so off the calendar of services and crosses calendar years (and insurance coverage), where most costs are incurred at the end of pregnancy with increased visit frequency and delivery.

We are expecting our first (also the first grandkid for both sides of the family) and our parents have done so much for us- is there a way to make them feel loved? A special grandparents gift?

How did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? Did it affect pay/promos? And then, subsequently, how did you start letting colleagues know you’re pregnant? Feels awkward to just randomly drop the news in a meeting! I work remotely so it’s hard to tell by video :) I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve waited as long as I can to at least notify my manager. I was waiting to negotiate my salary for next year but per company trend that doesn’t get set until January (manager reviews are written in Dec).
