When she kept saying that the two managers hired after me "needed time to adjust and onboard" before they received direct reports. I started a month earlier and my first direct report actually started the week before me (holidays - he came in before, I came on after).
It was a new office, technically "remote" from the original to prove that folks could work from anywhere and she was NOT in support of the initiative. Setting me up to fail. (Spoiler: I didn't. We were in perfect position when COVID hit AND helped the original office folks adjust to not being able to go in).
When it was the midst of covid. March-July 2020. During the time where there was a citywide lockdown and he made us commute from home into the office full time. (We were all set up to work remotely) Fired a senior from refusing to do so since she has a toddler back home. Mind you this was before vaccines came out with all the riots and looting/ protests happening.
He would yell and berate his employees in front of one another (CEO of a start up). Also the most intense micromanager I have ever come across.
Since I’m in 2 departments, I have 2 supervisors. One of them never tells me when I’m doing things right, they are always telling me what I’m doing wrong. I understand I have a lot of improvement to make (attention to details, etc) but it’s making me sad and not interested in working with them for long term
I realized it when my now boss was just a manager like I am now. He would micromanage everything we did and lie to our then boss when we would complain. Someone decided when our then store manager retired that it'd be a wonderful idea to make him the store manager. Since his take over it has been horrible. He no longer just micromanages he has had house hold security cameras installed so that he can watch us while he is at home. He will call and go off on us for the littlest things. He listens to our conversations and when his feelings get hurt because someone says what a bad person he is, he either fires them or cuts their hours so much they quit. He hires his family members and gives them raises and promotions that they don't deserve and really puts them in positions they aren't qualified for. This is especially upsetting when other people have been working in this place for many years and have put up with his garbage to be making sometimes way less than that of those family members. I am currently looking for a new job because my mental health has taken such a downward spiral that I just can't hold on any longer.
My old managing director was sneering out at us through his glass office when suddenly he threw open the door and shouted "Stop f*cking thinking....I can see you all thinking up questions for me, figure out this sh*t yourself" We all left shortly after, even his own relative that was on the team. He wasn't actually the worst of the management team.
First licensed vet tech job - the VMD did surgery wearing a miniskirt, scrub top and mask. She’s a hack and still working.
