They will probably try to up it this year since it’s an election year. I’m going to go with that they double that number to around 300 billion. I doubt mine will get forgiven though. Has anyone actually been a recipient of loan forgiveness?
Mine were forgiven in the first batch of 20/25 year forgiveness last August. I only had $21.5k and about5 years left. I paid everything else off - undergrads, private, and bar loans. I just wish I had known much, much sooner that it was going to happen so I could have consolidated sooner, and not had to pay navient $13k during the payment pause that benefit everyone with younger loans.
I feel pretty strongly that all student debt should be forgiven, no conditions.
I hope somehow someway yours are!! We all deserve it!
Rising Star
These loans were mostly PSLF that would have gone through no matter who was in office. In fact, because of Biden's crap show of a game, a lot of PSLF had major delays. But *clap, clap* any headline to make it seem like he followed through properly on any of his campaign promises.
If you look at the stats, they weren't processing psfls, and were always finding excuses to deny them.
Probably not near enough to save his re-election campaign. I don’t think most voters even know about his current student loan debt relief program
There are still a lot of people that do not. They are doing a horrible job of telling people with commercially held ffelp loans that need to consolidate into a department of education loan. All the attention went to the public service loan program. I complained to navient that they had nothing in their website about the idr waiver months before the original deadline, and they actually put a notice about it under the psfl notice a week later.
It is also asking a lot of people to consolidate their loans after 15+ years with navient, aes, et al., and ask us to believe that it will happen. When you see you loan terms double again, even if you know you already qualify for forgiveness, it is very nerve-wracking!! I'm just happy my forgiveness was processed in the first batch, before everyone's payments resumed. I got one whole month of the payment pause!
