is it feasible to buy individual stocks in my Roth IRA and sell later, and then switch to less volatile index funds down the road? Is this too risky/a bad idea?

Do you think you can outperform a broad market index fund in the long run? Probably not. People with way more time/resources than us make it their whole career, and even most of them can't do it.

You are free to play around with individual stocks if you want, but you should really do that in a small portion of your brokerage account. That way you can deduct losses if you are wrong. If you sell for a loss in a Roth, you're out of luck. There are a lot of people who sold ARK investments for a loss in their Roth and get no deduction.

You can but most likely to underperform the market.

You definitely can. But it requires following the market and discipline at getting in at low and selling at high. Many people don’t sell, and then hold the bag.

New Jersey partnership question.

Partnerships need to use market sourcing for purposes of calculating NR withholding tax (though NJ doesn't even call this withholding anymore).

However, for purposes of calculating the NJ distributive share of income, you apply Gross Income Tax (personal income tax) rules, which is 3 factor and includes COP.

If I end up with 0% apportionment under GIT and 10% apportionment under CBT (withholding tax), the partnership pays tax upfront but NRs get 100% refund?

Is there any realistic way where tipping in the US goes away and we start to be like other countries (e.g. Europe/Asia)? Raise the price of the food, pay servers a fair wage, no tips? Just a dream 😅

I'm guessing no because businesses will fight hard against this (customers subsidize wages) and certain servers benefit from tipping as well.

Only other thing I can think of is if everyone collectively decides not to ever tip again and it forces business to change. Won't happen though.

Any reviews on US Bank’s platinum checking account ?

I am working with a loan agent for a mortgage account. Per the agent, I will get a credit of 1000$ once I open the checking account. It should cover the loan application fee and commitment fee. (1100$)
Here’s the catch — the account has a 24$ monthly maintenance fee. And that gets waived with the mortgage.

I wonder what would happen if I refinance.
