Isn’t this sad, the modern state of American greed outsourcing to the 3rd world. Generation x continues to close the door for the newer generations of Americans and acts surprised why everyone is pissed off. Start applying now. The writing is on the wall and the elite will lie to your face until they are ready to let you go.
Keep looking! No guarantees that you’ll get the jobs you see, so make this decision once you have an offer in hand
Keep looking, if something comes up worth leaving for then go!
You’ll need to weigh what’s important to you. Are you at a time in your life where you’d like a career break and the severance can provide for that? You can also start looking and just weigh every opportunity against what your severance package will be and decide whether it makes sense to jump ship. If an amazing opportunity arises that makes sense to forfeit severance for, then you can take it. Otherwise, the severance package gives you the opportunity to be even pickier with your next opportunity as you have plenty of time to find the right role, fit, pay package, etc. It could also potentially give you an upper hand if an employer really wants you but knows they have to make an offer compelling enough for you to forfeit your severance.
Apply for new jobs. Maybe try to time it so that you will get the severance, and then can transition to a new job.
