Assuming the people with the lowest utilization don’t eat a lot of hours.
I think some of you put too much emphasis on utilization
Yeah utilization has a direct impact on compensation. However, 30% more hours is only 30% likely to get you a 2% increase so why bother?
🙋🏾♀️ work smart, not hard
Someone said that utilization affected their raises...lmfao. I shall congratulate their firm for doing a good brainwashing job on them...
Um cause it affected our raises ..^
Lowest is not equal to low.
The lowest of those promoted is still higher than those not promoted.
Not really. Low utilization means less of a raise.
I’m in Advisory and managed to maintain a ~40hr work week last year. Got a 10% raise. Coworkers stayed later than me and occasionally worked weekends.
I’m gonna side with Senior Accountant 1 on this one.
1. How do you get promoted on time with low utilization?
2. What is considered low utilization?
Makes a diff in the long run. Get paid more, faster.
What is considered low utilization
Nowhere did I say “low” utilization. I am simply saying of those people who are never held back and get their titles in the standard timeframe, the person with the lowest util of that cohort wins.
To anyone who thinks you are getting paid significantly more for your high util and ratings, I invite you to scroll down a ways and find the thread about hourly rates
Where
"Low" depends on your company's utilization targets. At Ey, staff and seniors are expected to be 80% utilized, meaning anything below 80 is low. I'd say anything below 65% is very low, but it also depends on how your peers are doing. If everyone is having a slow year, it's less of a big deal if yours is a little low.
Likewise, if your office is getting killed (everyone’s over 100%) and you’re sitting at 80% that’s going to be low
