Exercise, read a book, or do a puzzle.
Take some time off. Go on a vacation and relax your mind.
I don’t have a great solution to this, but I have pondered this question for many many moons. I’ve often thought of just getting a tent and other basic survival materials and setting off into the deep woods to live for awhile. A place far away from humans, could build your own shelter and plant a garden. Would have to be near a water source. Would also have to be educated on everything related to survival as well as natural medicines and first aid. It’d be a totally different lifestyle and probably not a permanent solution but I figure you could live that way for at least 2 years with very little money. And maybe in that time you’d be able to think about your next move or at the very least feel some sense of freedom and not be exploited by anyone. Other than that you need a lot of money or other people that you can lean on. Or try to find a job that is at least tolerable, which I’m not so sure such a thing exists.
I think it depends on the issue. Do you have too much work loaded on you? Is it because the people there are rude or boring to work with? Or are you just not interested in the type of work you do?
I have had a lot of different jobs. I can't stand boring office jobs, so I always ended having a side hustle. Hobbies are good too.
If there is just too much work and I can't keep up, then I will quit. I have been made into a manager at failing companies and not given any resources and a lot of shitty employees, so I would leave.
"This is why everyone that has desks has pictures of their loved ones framed and facing them throughout their day - the reason to push through is right in front of you." - My dad when i was asking how he deals with it and he turned the frames around so I could see photos of the family and his cat.
Don't look for enjoyment or fulfillment in a job, that's what relationships are for. No job will ever do more for you than pay the way to do what you want in life.
Take time off and do something that recharges you. Maybe going to the woods for a long weekend or a simple beach vacation where you’re not doing much.
Some people do super planned out vacations and what not but we don’t do this any more. We usually just watch a few YouTube videos, stick some pins on a Google map, and get on a plane. It’s relaxing not having to be on a schedule. Plus you introduce randomness into your day. Sometimes you just wanna hang out in a nice cafe other days you’re out exploring.
Hope it helps.
To me, burnout usually comes from working the same thing for a long time and there’s just nothing new to learn. The good part though is that you get pretty good at it and kind of have half your attention span freed up. This “other half” of attention is what gives you burnout since your mind is still bored. I think that getting your mind occupied on a simple task like playing online games, word puzzles or reading will help you.
try to keep work in perspective as just work and make sure you’re taking care of yourself and treating yourself occasionally to manage your health and mental health. Have you considered a move to other departments?
