If there is a magic solution out there, I haven't found it yet unfortunately. I do my best to remember that the attitudes people are displaying have nothing to do with me. All I can do is be patient, try to help, and leave work behind at the end of the day.
You can't change the customer service nature, but you can change how you react daily.
One trick is to keep a mirror on your desk, it shows you how you look to the other person and reminds you to smile. Even if it's that fake customer service smile, it can really break the ice with most people
Keep a sense of curiosity about them and it will sometimes pay off. There was one customer who was absolutely miserable to talk to until I found out he liked cats, and after that day he would ALWAYS ask about my kitties. I actually miss that guy
For me, talking with my coworkers/friends throughout the day is what got me through it. If you can text/Slack, etc. with them, even if you're not in person together
