What is the Netflix employees email format?
If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

✨ what’s the comp band for this role ✨
✨ sounds like you’re able to qualify this role into a range. Can you share that range✨
✨ thanks for asking. Can you share the range you have in mind and I can let you know if it’s in the ball park ✨
Thank you for sharing. I’ve always had a hard time with this one, as some roles are out of state and the pay grade varies. Also I’m newer, so I’m not really sure how much I can push the ask.

What’s the budget for the role
“What salary are you looking for?”
“I’ll have to think about that and get back to you. Do you have a salary range in mind for this role?”
Make sure that when you give a range, your low end is where you want to fall. Companies take the low end as acceptable and generally have little incentive to fall 50%+

Ask them what their offer is... And if it’s too low ask for 5-10k over what you want, then come down a little to let them think they won.
This is all situational to your experience, city, etc.

"I'm sure you have a range in mind that you feel is fair. Since I don't yet know the total compensation, including bonuses, benefits, and expense allowances (if there are any), perhaps you can fill me in on what those are for this role?"
Also FFS, hiring managers, list the salary range and other compensation when you post a job. No one likes wasting time, and when it takes multiple interviews to find out compensation, you've wasted the candidate's time as well as your own.
“I’d have to take a look at the overall benefits package. Is there a budget for the role?”
I've found this article helpful & like to reference prior to an interview: https://fearlesssalarynegotiation.com/salary-expectations-interview-question/#expected-salary-answer
Finally used some of these techniques today. Held my ground fairly well.
HR - what’s your expected salary range?
ME - depends on a lot of factors… benefits, the work, culture, growth opps, etc. Ultimately I want this move to be a step forward in regards to my responsibilities and my compensation. I imagine there’s an established salary range for this role — can you share that?
HR - there’s not a concrete total comp range as it consists of BASE and then VARIABLE. What would you say your total comp salary expectations would be?
(Fuckers. This through me for a loop a bit)
ME - well can you share what the typical base salary range is for this role?
HR - gives me a range of $25K for the base comp depending on experience
(Do some quick math)
ME - I say my total comp expectations would be the top of the base range they gave plus $20K more.
Salary was what I was expecting, but was nice to finally take control and get them to take their top off first.
Why would you be going on a second interview without knowing comp? That’s definitely in my opening conversation with recruiters, before I speak with any potential decision makers. You should already know the number that will make you serious about considering. Otherwise you’re wasting each other’s time.
Many places don't share the salary range until you are far down the Interview hole. I've always thought this was dumb as it definitely wastes everyone's time.
Also, I always start with, “I expect pay to be commensurate with my experience and expectations for the role.”
These tactics worked for me as well! Thanks to everyone in the thread I was given an exact number by them, without disclosing a thing. I replied with “If that’s approximately where you’re hoping to hit, I bet we can find a way to make something work.” Then I had my final round with leadership, and was told to expect an offer in the next 5 days.
...So Imma ask for more, right?
