Only if it was permanent work from home and one of those positions where you can’t get fired. Basically I’d do it if it was super chill with not much responsibilities or time commitment.
I left for a 13-10. I work 40 hours and rarely open my laptop outside of that. If I work more than 40, I can get overtime pay or comptime. I am full remote and can live anywhere in the continental US.
I do miss the intensity, comraderie, and money at times, but I'm the healthiest I've ever been and am able to spend my free time how I want (and not be tired).

Depends on the agency, potential future opportunities., work.
Pension?

I think it would be TSP not sure if gov does pension anymore for new people but TSP match I hear is very generous.
I know depending when one atart2d some get pension.

I think the most obvious thing to consider is growth (or lack of it).
The wlb will be better (most likely, although it may have some crazy exceptions), but in 10 years from now it's unlikely you will reach the 200/250k on a government job, but it's likely if you stay at EY (ofc there are more than those 2 options but I'm ignoring it)

That does sound interesting and could have lots of future growth.
My thoughts exactly 😊
No, I wouldn't do it. A 40 hour a week 130k/yr job might sound great as a burned out and underpaid Senior, but in 5 years when you're making 150k (5 years of 3% increases), but your friends who stayed in consulting, got promoted, job hopped and/or joined industry might be making 300-400k working 40 hours a week in big tech, your 150k/40h won't look so great. I would be very unhappy being so far behind in just a few short years.
This isn't just about salary, it is about wasted opportunity and the things/opportunities you won't be able to provide for your future spouse/kids.

As long as you’re aware that you will come in at the lower end of that band if not the bottom. Fed pay increases are step increases. It’s very set. And yes, that means it can take you years to reach the max. It’s the old way of increasing pay, it’s the fed government after all, but you can get increases by moving around.
Bureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy. Did I say bureaucracy? It can get tedious especially once you are used to a fast-paced environment. It’s very difficult to get fired or let go, so there will be people you work with who should get fired, but they won’t. Politics still exist. Depending on your agency, you may get furloughed if a budget isn’t approved by Congress in time.
WLB is great. You can’t work overtime unless it’s approved. Great vacation accrual plus comp time is regularly given.
I’m not aware of pension no longer being available - I thought that was a given. If that’s no longer a benefit, I personally wouldn’t bother.
The ability to make an impact. Certain things only government employees are chartered to do. You can make big things happen when you’re willing.
Don’t assume WLB unless you know the team (authorization required to work overtime is true but there are plenty of environments where people do it anyway because of the mission).
Department of the navy for analytical type work.

Sounds dope, give it shot-you can always 🪃 back!
Take it and don’t look back
Your wlb will be infinitely better. Your health insurer will be much better. Your 401k match will be light years better. Every federal holiday off. Need more?
Lol and that saying you’ll get to make an impact or the job sounds cool. I’d say stay away. Very few fed jobs that are actually impactful. Either you need to get in via a political appointee, be a foreign service officer or work at CIA/FBI. Unless you’ve got a PhD, then fed or a research agency is also legit.
What’s G-14? Lol
