I think both United and American have far better international networks and lower redemption rates than Delta. But actual travel experience is better with delta. I chose United for this reason as I wanted to travel internationally and domestically on my points.
Pro
This. Domestically, Delta is better with customer experience, plans but One World and Star Alliance are much better networks to be in

Delta has more limited international routes and their awards points are called SkyPesos. But their actual flight experience, from reliability to cabin crew, is easily the best.

Yes, you are crazy. Delta is superior to American in nearly every respect. AA may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
Based out of NYC, the only way I’d consider AA over DL is if I were traveling JFKLAX or JFKSFO in J or F weekly, since Delta One on the old 763s is pretty lackluster compared to F/J on the 321T.
Ok it’s decided, I’m sticking with delta. Thanks all for keeping me sane
I’ve always been a delta fan and hate flying on American. I don’t think the in flight experience is as nice - the lack of seat back TVs in American planes has always pissed me off, and American seems to be less willing to offer food (for example I’m looking at two flights from the east coast to hawaii, delta has food and American doesn’t).

K1 DL has been offering hot food on at least some routes since the summer. I had a full meal in Delta One on SEAJFK back in July. Only real difference was it all came out at once and there was no sundae/cheese cart after the main meal.

Delta can be more expensive and there are points about the hubs and the lack of international options, but if I can avoid the others, it’s delta for me. Way better experience, especially with status. No amount of status on American can make the plane newer. No amount of status on United can train the crew better.

K1 it’s actually closer at this point since DL retired all of its MD88/MD90 fleets and has been taking delivery of a lot of brand new 321ceo and 739ER.
I’d also fly on a DL PMNW 319 or 320 over any AA narrowbody in a heartbeat, despite their being old. DL has done a fantastic job modernizing the cabins on those.
I am an American person (based out of Dallas). My colleagues who fly Delta seem to have a better travel experience, but their issue with Delta is they feel it doesn’t have as good of international flight options and deals as American or United. I’ve gotten a lot of American international flight deals over the years, whether using money or dollars, and there are only more options out of the NYC area.
I made delta my prime from Boston where there are no hubs, based on on-time travel and minimal disruption. A plus is delta seating is one step better than all others but not as good as it should be.
I’m in CLT and it is such a treat on the rare occasions I don’t have to fly American
