I’m not an Orange Theory person but I go to barre and cycle classes regularly as well as run on my own. I’m a huge fan of group ex. I think it’s great to have the encouragement as well as the knowledge of an instructor. Plus, it holds you accountable. I know there’s so many days I would be very content to sleep in or go straight home from work if I hadn’t signed up for a class. Also, I put so much more work in to a class that I’m paying for than me just messing around in the gym.
I don’t think Orange Theory is for everyone but I’d recommend going in with an open mind and giving it 3 classes before deciding if it’s for you. And if you decide it’s not, maybe try ClassPass (most cities have 30 days free) and you can try out barre, Pilates, cycle, and so many others!
Good luck!! Being in a steady workout routine has legitimately changed my life and I couldn’t recommend it more.
I looove orangetheory. It’s great just going somewhere and having a quick, efficient workout I dont have to think about. I do however struggle with waking up to go in the morning or going after work. I’m always so tired ☹️
Did OTF for awhile last summer and my girlfriend has kept going and loves it, but I opted out for traditional weightlifting. The classes vary day to day and are as rigorous as you make them. A lot of HIIT and cardio so if you’re not used to it (like I was) first couple classes will kick your butt, but if you’re consistent on going you will feel great and see good results (assuming proper diet and decent sleep). I know in larger cities it might be harder to schedule classes as they can fill up fast, which can be a downside as they’re all specific times during the day and would need to line up with your schedule. I would definitely do the free class but don’t feel pressured and commit on the spot!
I just joined a month ago and I love it!! I like that it’s a group workout, so I feel pushed, but I’m only competing against myself and trying to do better than I did in the last class. And I get a great workout without having to think about it because I’m following the coach’s instruction, so I definitely prefer that over a traditional gym. Definitely try a few classes, you might be hooked!
I have a Peloton bike and joined Orangetheory two months ago. I really like it. A great workout in 55 minutes. I highly recommend.
I’ve been going for 3 years and I love it. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve consistently worked out. I’m not sure I buy into their “science” but I do find it challenging. There’s a good variety to the exercises, you can modify any exercise, and like a previous poster said, I just like having someone tell me what to do.
