No you need to know how to play politics. Hard work will only get you so far.

Wow, it took me till this comment to realize why it's called brown nosing lmao
I remember thinking this way when I was 23
This. It’s easier to move up and around when you’re early in your career because expectations are close to 0 anyway. The higher up you go, the more you need to actually sell your skills/ work ethics/ knowledge/ etc. to convince someone else of what you believe is just a fact (eg “I’m a harder worker than everyone else under consideration”)
Hard work doesn’t necessarily equal quality work. High quality work (which is easy for some people) and being well-liked is more important.
Getting a job is also about marketing yourself. Both on the resume and in the interview. If you have the skills but can't showcase them, you'll lack the leverage in interviews to get the next role or salary bump.

Technically true. You will always be able to find a job. However, as others have stated finding the right job for you may require the assistance of others. Whether that’s networking or blind lick, only the future knows.
Hard work is necessary but not sufficient. This may seem obvious, but I’ve encountered lots of people who sincerely work very hard at things that are not particularly valuable, or fail to communicate or understand the value.
Hard work is like showering before a date
