Just asked my 10yo (because thats the level of intelligence it takes to ask that question) her response: Why would anyone pay $18k for a vacation plan when you can just use google and use hotel/airline points to get the best travel deals!
I'm not saying it's a good investment, but one pro for this type of thing is that it forces you to go on vacation. My husband and I went to Hawaii last year at a time that wasn't super convenient, but if we didn't go we'd lose it. I was worried about my project, and you know what, I barely remember why. Hawaii was awesome, and I learned how to surf! 🏄🏻♀️
Better yet, use points and pocket the cash
EY1: 😂😂 love it
Use the promos and skip the contracts :)
McK your going to spend your entire vacation at the time share doing the math.
Secondhand timeshare rental sites are your best friend. Use em. VROB.com for example.
ONLY use Timeshares for the deals it gives you and then say NO after the presentation... I got a Suite in Vegas for 3 nights all expenses paid for attending the Timeshare presentation and said NO after Timeshare presentation. Also Got a Limo ride back to the hotel lol..
...discounted prices on weekend getaways. Sounds too good to be true! Thoughts?
It's in Orlando btw
DON'T DO IT
I own a Starwood vacation property. My home base resort is The Westin Lagunamar - Cancún. I don't worry about blackout dates on that location due to home base owners preference. I am able to reserve other locations as well and also have the ability to convert my vacation points into star points. Didn't go through their financing. Did that on my own with my Credit Union bank. 5 years into it, I love it.
I hope you use better analysis with your clients
I literally will sell you mine for $1. Two weeks a year - 3 bedroom. RCI and Holiday Inn Vacation resorts.
^ point 3 should have been length of the loan (7 years)
Haha yes EY2, you're very perceptive
Wait for 3 months andthen review your plan of buying this vacation idea. It seems like an impulse thought from an analytical person like you.
Yep A2- I went to thing to get half off park tickets. Wanted to see what folks think is wrong with the concept, apart from the obvious financial ridiculousness. Airbnb is exploring this business model btw, looking forward how smartly they devise it
Didn't Starwood sell off their timeshare business as part of Marriott merger? You sure this isn't swampland in Florida?
Starwood did sell it, but part of the sale was a licensing agreement for close enough to forever. So you still get and can use star points.
EY3, you're right, this company called Interval bought a big portion
