I also coach solo practitioners and small firm attorneys. https://www.amazon.com/Starting-Growing-Practice-Without-Breaking/dp/1099523303

For what it’s worth, I’ve been practicing for 5 years, family law the whole time. I’ve been at current firm for less than a year. $135k base, 10% originations, and discretionary year-end bonus. Billing about 125-130 hours/month.

Part of this is going to be based on your billing rate and collections, and the type of clientele your firm serves. A boutique family law firm that caters to high net worth individuals is going to pay more than a high volume firm with very low retainers. You may also check to see if you’re actually classified as a mid level associate. If you’ve only been in family law for 2 years, the firm may be billing out for your work as though you’re a second year associate, and not a mid level associate based on applicable experience.
That is very helpful, thank you! My rate when I started was $250/hr and they increased it to $300/hr last year. I appreciate the insight!
