This sounds juicy. A lot of companies are tightening up. What did the email say??
I just feel like the tone and timing of it was a little uncharacteristic. Not saying I subscribe to this theory but some feel like there’s an ulterior motive to reduce headcount either by gently nudging people towards other opportunities (negating the need for severance costs) or terminating through enforcement of the policy. I can only speak to my own department in saying people as high up as senior manager have been playing fast and loose with RTO. End of the day, markets cooling off I’m doing what I need to do to stay employed.
Right message , wrong time. There was no reason to post this prior to year end, before comp reviews and holidays. Time for taking a harder stance would be post - winter.
Gaslighting much? I left Vanguard for exactly this reason (RTO). Could not be happier in my new role.

It can be a really nice place to work if you’re on a good team, but yeah, generally comp is why people leave. I loved it for the first year I was there despite the low pay, but a micromanaging maniac rolled onto my team and I ultimately decided it wasn’t worth it anymore. Said maniac had been reported to HR numerous times and been moved around multiple teams as a result but they refused to get rid of them.
