No AI produced work goes in front of clients without scrutiny - very similar to how no new analyst/associate produced work making it to clients without scrutiny. But AI does produce the first cut output (PowerPoint and excel) significantly faster than what an analyst/associate used to do in the past without AI.
Definitely not seeing any reductions in team sizes yet. It’s a small teams problem - if you have a team of 2 people and they’re 10 percent more efficient, there isn’t real savings there. I think our back office functions will shrink a lot faster.
Tools are now genuinely helpful for analysis. Clients don't know how to leverage it. Even MBB teams don't know how to leverage it (at least my own experience). So this year of you invest in this skill - 80 percent of it is really just having decent system for prompting and llm workflow management - then you definitely have an edge. Also my feeling is this will last for years. Remember, we have also used to build excel models which client could have built themselves. I am less and less worried with Consulting as a profession being hit by AI
