Are people at MBB ever on the bench? What happens if they are?

MBB Interviewers: I know the bar & I’m not there. Would it be terrible to tell those who’ve offered to refer me (lateral hire) that I’d want to wait until 2021 to interview? Friends say I’m crazy & that they don’t see any lateral hiring in Jan-March, but my understanding was most MBBs hire year round (pre-MBA). The thought of waiting another year to re-apply is scary. Please help!

After 6 years in Consulting (MBB), manager level, a newborn and my wife at home: Option A) dream location, pay 90k MBA debt out of pocket, get unemployment benefits (120K p.y over 1,5 years) + do some freelance work (at 1-1.5k/day) + look for a new job . Option B) go back to a geo I hate, get 120K salary (but 60% cost of living vs option A), and 90K MBA paid over 2 years, and career progression (not sure I want to do consulting for the long term). Thoughts?

If you’re frustrated about 💰 and career, maybe from FAANG/MBB/PE TC posts, just remember that 99% of life is still pretty much the same for everyone. You eat at the same restaurants, poop on the same toilets, live in similar neighborhoods, wear the same Patagonias, fly in the same metal cans ✈️, and maybe even drive similar cars whether your TC is 100k, 200k or 400k. There’s no use in earning tons more money than you actually need, and the “rich” life is still far away for those earning $1M

if you get laid off from a Big 4, what are the chances of being hired again at the same or different office (same firm)? is it totally impossible?

12 weeks prego with first baby and feeling really down about not being able to have a full baby shower or a getaway babymoon due to covid. After years of ttc, I didn't imagine my pregnancy to be like this all quarantine and no fun. I haven't gotten a real hug from anyone besides my husband. Telling friends and family through zoom just isn't the same. Hosting a zoom baby shower just isn't the same. How can I get myself out of this funk?
