Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Sure you can, if you don’t mind upsetting the people from the recruiter agency and so so agency. You’re your own boss as a freelancer. Make the gigs work for you. Especially if it means a longer time at a better agency.
How long is the interview process for long term gig and how sure are you it's in the bag? Can you accept short term and finish it and slow the long term interview? I was in same boat but didn't want to rush into anything - turns out long term agency wasn't the right fit anyways so at least I got paid in the meantime.
Just say yes to #1 and make it all work IF #2 comes thru.
Great questions, and I’m not sure it’s in the bag.
Recruiter said to contact them again close to end date. I really, really regret not cancelling first gig, but think it’s wise to not burn bridges. Recruiter said to reach out close to end date—so I’m hopeful something will come of it.
